Year 3 Travel Back in Time to the Stone Age!

On 19th November Year 3 had a Stone Age to Iron Age day delivered by Ryan and Mark, who are two archaeologists from Butser Ancient Farm. During the day the children took part in several activities designed to give an insight into what life would have been like during the Stone Age including handling tools and making jewellery. They also discovered the similarities and differences between the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Ages. Joshua reports “we had a great day and really enjoyed making bookmarks, rings and lucky charms. Ryan brought two large rocks and showed us how they would have made flour by grinding wheat between the stones.”

Butser Ancient Farm is  a fabulous place to visit but is nearly an hour and a half away in Waterlooville. Bringing history to life in the classroom allows for more hands on activities and learning rather than having valuable time taken up travelling. We would like to thank Ryan and Mark for giving the children an interesting and fun day.
