We hope the children enjoyed their book character dressing up and the special work that the teachers planned for this year’s World Book Day on 5th March. Activities included each class contributing to a story book and “speed dating” reading! The school was run by Captain Hook and his sidekick Smee that day- fortunately no children were made to walk the plank!!!! Here is a write up about the day from Peter in Year 6:-
“On Thursday 5th of March, Year 6 enjoyed a day of dressing up and fun learning! Before register, we had fun showing off our costumes to each other before we went to different classes to hear some stories form different teachers! We also made some comic strips in the ICT suite. After break, we made bookmarks and we decorated them. We also took part in an activity called, “Speedy Books” where we went to different people and told them about the books and authors we enjoy. After lunch, we had a big write which was all about making a diary in the life of a book character. At 2:30, we all went into the hall where some of the teachers read us the blurb or an extract from one of their favourite books! Before we went home, Mrs Loader read to us the story that the whole school had made!” – by Peter Year 6
