Thank you Summer Fayre 2019

Our PTA Summer Fayre last week was once again a great success and we are delighted to announce that together we made over £3,200!

As always it was a lovely community event and after a rather wet week we were very lucky with the weather!

A big thank you to the PTA and to everyone who helped in the run up to the event and on the day; to all the teachers, the Year 5 choir, Year 3 dancers and our Karate club who performed in the arena; to all the stallholders and parent helpers and to everyone who came to enjoy the event. Your support really did make the Fayre a huge success. We were delighted to also welcome Dorset Police, the RNLI, the Little Sewing Table, Funtastic Club and Glitter Girls.

Well done to Year 6 who created their own stalls and worked hard on the day raising a fantastic £391 for the PTA, and thank you to the Year 5 Sports Ambassadors for working hard running the Tri Golf stall. Well done also to Year 4 pupils Amelia and Alice for raising £81.80 on their stall in aid of Cafod. Thank you to all the individual classes for working so hard on their stalls and raising valuable funds for the PTA.

Thank you to everyone who entered our first ever Bake Off at the Summer Fayre! Well done to Anna, Jasmine, Jess, Harry, Erin, Maria, Samir, Seth and Ralphie for making such an amazing effort baking their delicious cakes. Everyone really did enjoy tasting the cakes and voting for their favourite. Well done to Samir for winning the Bake Off! Pictures of all of the cakes will be on our website. Thank you also to everyone who very kindly baked cakes and donated them to the cake stall – they all looked amazing!

As well as it being a lovely community event, an impressive £356 was raised which goes towards making a difference to enrich our children’s school experience

Christmas Fayre 2018

PTA CHRISTMAS FAYRE RAISED

Thank you to everyone who came along to support our PTA Christmas Fayre – it was a great success!

It was a great family event with a magical Santa’s Grotto which was a real hit with the kids, and a Secret Santa Room where children could secretly buy and wrap a present for their loved ones – the children really loved this too! We had a great selection of gift and craft stalls including Tropic Skincare, The Book People, Flamingo Paperie cards, designer perfume with Sorelle, hand knitted items from Crafty Wools, handmade bows with Emily Lockyer and locally made honey from beekeeper Johanna Mills. We had tombolas, homemade cakes, biscuit decorating, glitter tattoos with Sparkle Art Face Painting and Christmas garlands with Ericka Golding. The playground was filled with real Nordmann Fir Christmas trees thanks to Christmas Trees Direct and we served refreshments all evening thanks to generous donations from Papa John’s Pizza in Christchurch, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Warburtons.

Our Christmas raffle was a huge success and raffle winners were delighted with their prizes. Raffle prizes were very kindly donated by The Jetty; Hoburne Brasserie 1912 restaurant, Tropic Skincare, Longdown Activity Farm, Farmer Palmer’s, the Regent Centre, Swanage Railway, BH Live, Lifestyle Active, Moors Valley, Beauty Rediscovered, Monkey Madness, Beales and Marks and Spencer.

Thank you to our very hardworking PTA who devoted a lot of their time to make this a fantastic event; to our St Joseph’s families who donated generously, gave their time to work with the children and helped on the night; and to the children who worked hard making decorations for the event. Thanks also to Stewarts Garden Centre and John Cribb for donating decorations and lights.

We raised an amazing £1,672 which will be used to enrich our children’s school journey. We hope you enjoy the pictures of our event.

PTA Book Fair 2018

BOOK FAIR JULY 2017

Thank you to all who helped with the Book Fair. The event was a great success and everyone enjoyed choosing their books from The Book People bookcases. We raised over £937 from the sale which has earned the school over £234 in commission to spend on our school library.

PTA Summer Fayre 2018

PTA-Summer-Fayre-thanks-2018

The PTA’s Summer Fayre was once again a great success – even with it being held on an evening and was technically remaining a downscaled affair. As always there was a lovely feeling of community – with the St Joseph’s family and local community enjoying the super weather. Thank you to everyone who organised the fayre, helped on the day, performed in the “arena” and came to enjoy the event.

We are pleased to say that £2,945 was raised! Well done everyone! If you enjoyed the event please do consider joining our PTA as we do need more volunteers and helping hands to be able to put on events such as this, raising money for our school and enriching the school life for our children.

Sponsored Bounce 2018

Sponsored-bounce

Well done to all our bouncy children who took part in the PTA fundraising. We raised £1,372 some of which I’ve already spent on crafts and party bits for our Royal Wedding Day. Thank you for making the difference.

PTA Race Night 2017

PTA Race Night 2017

A fantastic night was had by all at the PTA Race Night on February 9th. There was lots of eating, drinking, laughing and shouting (at the horses racing!). Thank you Dee once more for a fabulous evening, to all those who helped on the evening, along with Wayne, of Red Cherry Catering for, once again providing us with a lovely supper. As well as it being a lovely community event an amazing £753 was raised for the school.

Meet our PTA…

St. Joseph’s Parent and Teachers Association is made up of a committee of 15 elected people. The positions are: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary. We have 8 class representatives (one in each class year), 2 teacher representatives and our President is Headteacher Miss Buxton.

What does the PTA do?

We help to raise money for the little extras and luxuries for the children by holding fantastic fundraising events. The money raised has so far helped us to purchase our new improved Trim Trail in the playground, a projector, PA system, our website design, play equipment for Foundation Stage and KS1, digital cameras, a friendship bench, lunchtime play equipment for the whole school and equipment for the kitchen. Our superb events include BBQs, shopping and food evenings, our hugely popular Summer Fayre, Christmas events, raffles cake sales and parties. Take a look at some of our latest PTA events.

Who can attend meetings?

Everyone who has a link with St. Joseph’s school is welcome to the PTA meetings including parents past and present, grandparents, teachers, governors, and St. Joseph’s congregation. We welcome any support from parents who would like to get involved. Every little contribution helps even if it is just a few hours volunteering at an event, baking a cake, donating items for our stalls or coming to a PTA meeting.

When and where are the meetings?

We hold the meetings once a month in the school hall at 7pm, and if you can’t join us in the evenings we hold afternoon meetings – toddlers welcome! There is usually tea, coffee, biscuits and, if you’re lucky, a cake!

How to get involved…

Come and join us at a meeting or speak with your class rep. Any offers of help or new ideas are always welcome. Even a few hours selling tickets or serving teas is more than helpful. Your PTA needs you – remember it’s for the children. To contact the PTA please email office@stjosephs.dorset.sch.uk
