Advent is a season in which we prepare for the great celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas.
During these four weeks we are invited to deepen our appreciation of God’s gift to us and the world of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  So what should we do?

WAIT – for thousands of years people waited for the promised Messiah and Saviour.  We pray and wait for the Lord.

REFLECT – We listen again to the call of St. John the Baptist to make our hearts ready for forgiveness and love

ADVENT WREATH – a circle of evergreens, symbolising God’s love; three violet and one pink candle, reminding us of God’s light in the world.

ADVENT CALENDAR – marks the 4 weeks of Advent, each day we think about our lives as a friend of Jesus –  “Come, Lord Jesus”.

Advent Prayers

We pray to Jesus, light of the world and prince of peace. That all who live in darkness may walk in light.

Come Prince of Peace

That we will use this special time of Advent to prepare a way in our hearts for the coming of Jesus.

Come Prince of Peace

We pray for all who are trapped in the darkness of anger, loneliness, poverty or grief.

Come Prince of Peace

We pray for continuing peace in our country and in all troubled areas of the world.

Come Prince of Peace

We pray for ourselves that we may receive peace in our hearts at Christmas, and that we may share that peace with others.
