This year our Harvest Festival is being held 2.30pm on Wednesday 5th October, to which you are all invited. We will be continuing to support Hope, the Bournemouth charity for the homeless. Their aim is to provide supported housing, for single, homeless people and individuals completing rehabilitation treatment. Such a cause allows us, who have so much, to share God’s gifts with those who have so little at a local level.
You may remember that following an assembly on homelessness the children grew vegetables from seed for the allotments at Hope. Hope also had a stall at our spring fayre that informed us of the work they do.
This harvest we will be collecting items that can go towards a starter pack. Imagine you are straight off the street with just a bag of your personal processions. On finding a clean, warm and safe room at Hope you find yourself needing some very basic items, things that we all take for granted. If you are having a bit of a sort out of your cupboards at home, or are willing to put something extra into your shopping trolley in the next two weeks Hope would really appreciate;
Starter Pack Equipment
- Duvets and pillows and covers
- Fitted sheets
- Crockery and cutlery
- Pots, pans and basic utensils
- Tea towels
- Men’s toiletries- soap, shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste
Non- perishable food
- Any food that has a long shelf life such as baked beans, noodles, pasta and sauces
A representative from Hope will be at the festival and the charity thank us in advance for thinking of them- especially at this time of year when the weather becomes cold, damp and dark. More information can be found on their website http://www.hopehts.com
The school is ready to receive your donations from today so feel free to start bringing these much needed harvest gifts in.
